Project Overview
A U.S. retail fixture manufacturer needed lighting for removable metal display shelving used to merchandise everyday products. The project concerned wall-side retail shelving, with rigid LED light bars mounted beneath the shelves.
The main requirement was to make both light-bar mounting and power connection more convenient. iPixel used magnetic mounting for the light bars and a magnetic contact connection arrangement for the power connections.
Customer Challenge
The previous installation was inconvenient to assemble. The customer wanted to address the fixing method and the wiring arrangement, particularly the positioning of connections within the shelving layout.
What We Did
iPixel supplied magnetic rigid LED light bars for mounting beneath the metal shelves. The magnetic fixing held the bars against the compatible shelf surface.
The project replaced the conventional wired plug connection with magnetic contact terminals. The connection points could be repositioned within the compatible power-contact arrangement, making it more convenient to place the connections for the shelf layout.
Magnetic mounting and electrical connection were separate functions: the magnets fixed the light bars in place, while the matched contact components provided the power connection.

Validation
The configuration was checked on iPixel's in-house shelving. The project notes record secure attachment and convenient power connection during this installation check.
The samples were approved, and the project progressed to mass production.
Project Results
